News

Fixes/changes/update notes:

• Three all time lists have been removed as they were based on reader polls and shouldn't have been eligible.
• Game, developer, and publication pages now have stable URLs that will be consistent across list updates.
• A few minor layout and page title tweaks.
• A couple of data entry errors corrected.

New stuff:

• The main list now goes all the way up to 750! Rankings are likely to be quite unstable towards the end of the list as data for such games is much weaker, but games are still appearing on a minimum of two lists past 900, so data for the top 750 should be at least acceptable.
• The penalty that applies to publications repeating themselves across multiple lists is now applied on a matchup level instead of a game level. This is how it should have been from the start. With this change implemented, the algorithm is unlikely to change again in the near future.
• Five new all time lists have been added: Gamereactor (2017, 2022), GameSpot (2000), and GamesMaster (1994, 1996).

New features/fixes/changes:

• This changelog! From now on, any new features, fixes, or changes will be announced/explained here.
• Genre data from IGDB has been added for all games, along with a genre filter for the main list.
• An error in how the developer data was being fetched from IGDB has been corrected.
• The layout of the main list has been improved, especially for mobile devices.
• The ranking algorithm has been improved and now does a much better job of placing newer games (actually, this happened last week, but I didn't have anywhere to announce it then).
